IDLES Drop New Track ‘Grounds’ and Reveal Album Release Date

Appearing on BBC Radio 6 Music this evening, IDLES frontman Joe Talbot revealed a lot of new details about the band’s upcoming album, including a release date, tracklist and upcoming livestream dates in place of a physical tour.

The album, which has been unveiled as Ultra Mono, is due for release September 25 via Partisan Records. In place of a live tour announcement, the Bristol 5-piece have laid out a summer schedule of single releases and and a series livestreams spanning from August 29-30 , with tickets available now on their website.

Alongside this announcement, the band also debuted the single ‘Grounds’, which they had already previewed at a few of their live shows at the end of 2019. It’s classic IDLES, with a few new twists that establish the song as one of the standouts among their releases since 2018’s Joy As An Act of Resistance.  This feels like the true lead singer from the album, giving us a truer taste of what is to come, while ‘Mr Motivator’ was a more effective pick-me-up from lockdown blues.  Both tracks showcase the power and empowerment of an IDLES song, assuring fans that they haven’t lost an ounce of authenticity since their critical breakthrough.

Also available is a whole new range of merchandise, from album bundles to mosh-friendly T-shirts. The news has been very well received by fans, who are ready and waiting for another dose of IDLES.

IDLES’ Ultra Mono will be available from September 25 via Partisan Records.
